Drafting Your City's CFC Map Mission Statement

Laying the Groundwork · Draft Foundational Documents

Congratulations on drafting your own CFC map abstract! Now you will begin to narrow down the abstract into a concise Mission Statement that you can share with potential partners, community members, funders, and more.  Below is Growing Up Boulder’s CFC map mission statement.

A mission statement is a concise explanation of the project’s reason for existence. It describes the purpose and its overall intention. The mission statement supports the vision and serves to communicate purpose and direction to stakeholders and partners. After reading through our mission statement, we encourage you to create your own CFC map mission statement.

GUB’s Child-Friendly City Map Mission Statement

Growing Up Boulder seeks to inspire children and their families to explore Boulder through the creation of a printed, child-friendly city map. This collaborative effort will include many key partners, and be diverse and inclusive by design. As residents and visitors engage in child- and family-friendly map design and activities, a more vibrant, child and family-friendly Boulder will emerge.

Draft Your City’s CFC Map Mission Statement

Now that you have read through our mission statement, it is your turn to begin to draft an abstract for your CFC map.

To begin, we recommend asking yourself the following questions:

  • How do you envision this CFC map impacting your community?
  • How would you like to go about achieving this vision?
  • What do you hope will come from the creation of a CFC map?
  • How will your city improve by creating a CFC map?

Add Your Mission Statement to Your Guiding Document

  1. Again, go to the Your Templates folder on Google Drive and ensure that you have saved a copy of all of the documents within to your own Google Drive folder.
  2. Once you have, open the document entitled 1.4 CFC Map Guiding Document
  3. As a reminder, we have included the original GUB responses for the CFC map in Boulder. These are included in green. We have also included instructions for how to make this document relevant for your city in yellow. We advise that you delete the yellow highlighted information and remove and replace the green highlighting as you personalize your document.
  4. Go through the document and fill out the sections entitled Map Mission Statement.
  5. Congratulations! You have just begun work on your Child Friendly Map Guiding Document!
