Review Lesson Plan 1
Collaborate with Partners · Prepare for Partner Meeting 1
CFC Map Youth Engagement Lesson Plan 1 outlines the session that partners will lead with their own youth after attending Partner Meeting 1. The purpose of this lesson is to lead youth through a participatory process that creatively engages them in authoring their own ideas that will be used to create your Child-Friendly City Map. The data generated by youth participating in CFC Map Youth Engagement Lesson Plan 1 will be used by map designers to create a CFC Map that integrates the diverse ideas from youth across age ranges and demographics.
As we have explored, during Partner Meeting 1 you will be guiding partners through Activities 1 and 2 which are described in CFC Map Youth Engagement Lesson Plan 1. This will prepare them to lead these with their own youth groups. We recommend guiding partners through each activity as participants, and then reading through this lesson plan to reflect as facilitators. This process does several things:
1) It solidifies for the partners an understanding of what the activities in the CFC Map Youth Engagement Lesson Plan 1 are.
2) It allows them to consider what they would need to do to prepare to lead CFC Map Youth Engagement Lesson Plan 1.
3) It begins to engage them as co-creators, thinking of how they might expand on these activities to match their current units or programs and the unique needs of their youth. During Partner Meeting 2, we will be engaging interested partners in going deeper with the map’s creation, and this begins to plant seeds for any interested partners.
Remember the model we have been utilizing–experience first, then lead.
