Lived Experience

As described in the video, you will get a chance to explore your own lived experiences and others from the course to get a sense of how valuable lived knowledge can be. Follow the steps below, then post your drawing to the discussion board. After you have posted, comment on one other student’s post identifying themes in their drawing that are similar or different from your own.

  • Take a moment to think about your earliest memories of spending time in nature. How old were you? Who were you with? What did you do? Choose one experience.
  • Take 5 minutes to sketch this place on a piece of paper.
  • Add labels to your drawing and be ready to share your drawing with the group.
  • When you’re done, post this drawing to the discussion board.
  • Respond to one other post with themes that you see in common, or ones that are different from your own!

Download the instructions for the Lived Experience Activity here to lead it later with your own groups.
